Hundred Islands National Park: A great place for a great island adventure
If there is one tourist destination in Ilocos-Pangasinan Region that you should not miss, it is the Hundred Islands National Park and its home, Alaminos City in Pangasinan, Philippines.
This park is a cluster of islands and islets scattered in the Lingayen Gulf. It is made up of 123 islands (124 islands on low tide)covering a total area of 18.44 square kilometres (4,557 acres) and. These islands look like emeralds scattered across the blue clear waters of Lingayen Gulf.
There are only 3 islands which were developed for tourists. These are the Governor Island, Quezon Island and Children’s Island. These are equipped with tourist facilities such as tables, sheds, stores, camping sites, and other tourist amenities.
To visit these islands you can take a motorized boat ride from the Lucap Wharf (Hundred Islands National Park mainland). Governor’s Island is a 20 minute boat ride, Children’s Island is a 25 minute ride and the Quezon Island is a 30 minute ride.
While in the hundred islands park you can engage yourself in island hopping and boating, beach bumming and camping. You can also trek the peak of the cliff in Governor’s Islands to witness the panoramic view of the park. Moreover, you can go into diving or snorkeling to see the giant clams, coral areas and variety of tropical fishes. Each island provides a unique beauty and experience.
Hundred Islands National Park is very accessible. Public transportation services are available from Baguio City, Dagupan City and Metro Manila. Moreover, places to stay should not be a problem. The 3 islands developed for tourists have cottages for indoor stay. The rates are quite affordable especially for group tour packages.
