Baguio City is the renowned summer capital of the Philippines. Situated atop the Cordillera mountains at an elevation of 1,500 above sea level, Baguio is one of the few places in the Philippines endowed with a cool climate. The City’s average temperature ranges from 15 to 23 degrees Celsius (59 to 73.4 degrees Fahrenheit) depending on the time of the year with the coolest period normally felt during the end and early months of the year (December- February).
The cool climate makes the City appealing to tourists. The presence of many pine trees in the area contributes to this type of climate. It is indeed a romantic place for lovers, a good avenue for family get together and a productive place for official function. It is like a mountain resort located in an urban area.
Aside from the cool climate, tourists flock to Baguio because of its natural, historical and cultural attractions. Among the points of interest include the Burnham Park, Asin Hot Springs, Eastern Weaving Room and Camp John Hay to name a few. The regular influx of tourists both local and foreign is a normal trend. And it is more evident when the City celebrates its flower Festival, Panagbenga in February and during the summer period. The Lenten season which falls during summer time marks the peak inflow of tourists in the city.
